The Eagles / Jackson Browne tune, “Take It Easy” is excellent advice for anyone but even more so for us boomers. In this video, our friend, Alan explains how he acquired a double groin injury and sciatica from not taking it easy.
Alan was a competitive skier and cyclist who still has the skills and drive to compete with people a fraction of his age. The problem is, our friend has allowed his general fitness and flexibility to decline and he has never really been one to stretch regularly. That is a prescription for injury.
Even the youngest Boomers need to keep in mind; one can’t take part in sports or jump into an exercise program full steam ahead. Take it easy in the beginning, warming up and regular stretching is more important than ever. Stay fit and flexible and you will be surprised what you can do!
